oilprices.io shows the price of crude oil in plain numbers, with charts and data from public sources. It is free, needs no sign-up and is paid for by ads.
Who we are
The oilprices.io team is based in the EU. We offer strategic consulting to companies in the energy and utilities sector across the EU.
We built this site because people who follow energy markets need a quick, reliable view of the oil price, with every number traced to its source. The team writes or reviews every page before it goes live.

Where the numbers come from
| Data | Source | How often it updates |
|---|---|---|
| Live Brent and WTI prices | OANDA's Brent (BCOUSD) and WTI (WTICOUSD) quotes, shown with TradingView widgets. They track the nearest-month futures closely but are not official ICE or NYMEX settlement prices. | Continuously while the market is open, Sunday evening to Friday evening. |
| Official spot prices | U.S. Energy Information Administration daily spot prices for Europe Brent and WTI at Cushing, Oklahoma. Original data: Refinitiv, an LSEG business. | EIA publishes them weekly, on Wednesdays. Our home page updates the next morning. |
| US crude oil imports | EIA company-level imports (Form EIA-814), by country of origin, grade and port of entry. | Monthly, about two months after each month ends. We check every Monday. |
| Map background | OpenFreeMap, using OpenStreetMap data. | As provided. |
Why the live price and the official price differ
The live prices follow futures contracts for oil delivered in the coming weeks. The EIA figures are spot prices for physical crude delivered now, recorded once a day. In calm markets the two are usually close, but when supply is tight, physical cargoes can trade well above futures. Both are shown on the home page.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email hello@oilprices.io. We check every report, fix confirmed errors as soon as we can, and note significant corrections on the page where they happened.
Independence and advertising
The site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. No data provider, broker or advertiser pays to influence what we publish, and our consulting work has no influence on the figures shown: every price comes straight from the sources listed above. Nothing on this site is investment advice.
